Story Siren hosts In My Mailbox where book bloggers offer a peek into the books that arrived in their homes over the past week. Mailbox Monday hosted by Marcia at the Printed Page has the same objective - I can relate to the warning that accompanies this meme on her website: "Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists"
I got some great books in my mailbox this week including the eagerly awaited Help by Kathryn Stockett - I might be the only person left who has not read this book! I will remedy that in March when we cover it for book club.
- The Help by Kathryn Stockett- a friend of mine read this for her bookclub and generously sent me her copy so I would have it for my book club next week!
- Undress Me in the Temple of Heaven by Susan Jane Gilman - I recevied this from Hachette and I will be reviewing it on Feb 23rd - my first blog tour (woo hoo!) Any advice?
- Waking Up in the Land of Glitter: A Crafty Chica Novel by Kathy Cano-Murillo- this is an ARC I received from Hachette - I will be reviewing for a blog tour of this book on March 8th
- The Swimming Pool by Holly Lecraw- this is the author's debut novel and I received it from Library Thing's Early Reviewer program. It's a family drama - these always draw me in and I look forward to getting into it!
What arrived on your doorstep this week? Have you read any of the books above (or others by the same authors)?
Well, I haven't read "The Help" yet either but it is on my 2010 to read list!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I heard the Gilman book is pretty good. As far as advice for blog tours, I think you just need to be balanced in your review but still be honest and leave it up for at least 24 hours to give it full exposure.
I haven't read The Help yet either. In fact, I'm number 83 on my small library system's wait list!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the blog tour!
What a great mailbox! I don't think I've read a bad review of The Help yet. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteSounds great! Family dramas always pull me in too. I'll be looking forward to your thoughts on that one. I hope you love The Help as much as I did.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy! Here's my MM

I haven't read The Help yet either but I'll be getting to it before you as my book club has chosen it for this month, not next. :-) As a former swimmer, love the cover of The Swimming Pool. It's very appealing to me.
ReplyDeleteCool reads!! Enjoy!!

"Crafty chica" -- are genres going to be forever subdividing until we have a genre for every reader? I could have legal thrillers featuring needlepointing Oregonian cat lovers.
ReplyDeleteRose City - now that you have put it out there, that exact book will arrive from an author any day!
ReplyDeleteThese look great! I have heard so much about The Help! I hope to read it some day! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThe Help is on my TBR list for 2010 - I've heard nothing but great reviews!
ReplyDeleteOur book club is reading The Help in March too. So you are not alone and I can't wait to read it either. The other books sound great too!
ReplyDeleteYesterday I received The Undress Me in the Temple of Heaven for the blog tour too. I think this will be a great memoir/travel story. Glad to have you on board for the tour!
ReplyDeleteHappy reading!
