I recently finished Lucky Child by Luong Ung which tells the story of the author's assimilation to the US after she left war-torn Cambodia during the rule of Khmer Rouge. It has had me thinking a lot about my trip to Cambodia a few years ago. Ankor Wat is truly majestic and I was awestruck throughout our visit there.

Colleen, what a great picture. Cambodia is not a place that I've ever thought of visiting. I'm trying to remember if my parents ever went there. I'm thinking not. They did go to Thailand twice or maybe three times.
ReplyDeleteI went on a little SE Asia kick for a few years there - I went to Vietnam and Cambodia, then India and then Thailand. All so interesting!
DeleteThat's incredible--I love the reflection.
ReplyDeleteCambodia isn't on my list of places, either, but I'd love to pull that I Dream of Jeannie trick (where she wiggles her nose?) and transport myself just to Ankor Wat!
ReplyDeleteIt is a fascinating country and the people are really nice.
DeleteI hear Cambodia is a beautiful country. Sadly, I think it still has a long way to go to make people feel that it's a safe place to visit which is a shame.
ReplyDeleteI actually felt pretty safe there as compared to other 3rd world countries I have visited. But it still lacks many of the basics - clean water, etc which can make it a hard place to visit.
DeleteAnkor Wat is on my list of those places I have to see at some point. It looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteEva - it is beautiful! Hope you get to go someday!
DeleteImpressive. Good for you, stepping out of the normal comfort zone to visit Cambodia. Here's Mine
ReplyDeleteThat's SO pretty -- love the reflection in the water, too!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh . . . Cambodia! I'd love to get there one day. It's so exotic.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great, pic, Collen. I would *love* to go there. My sister's been and loved it. I love the idea of Saturday snapshots.
ReplyDeleteThat is an awesome picture. I hope one day to see Ankor Wat.
ReplyDeleteYou can really feel the impress of the centuries at sites like these.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful picture; how exotic it looks!
ReplyDeleteThat sure is an intriguing shot...would love to know more about the place.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great picture - the building has great textures.
ReplyDeleteHere are my British Snapshots
That would be such a neat place to visit! Maybe someday (hopefully).
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous and unusual architecture! Quite lovely.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Snapshot
WOW, that is an awesome shot (love the reflection). A place I am sure I'll never visit. thanks Colleen.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo! I do love visiting places I've read about (or vice versa).
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
Photos like yours always make me want to start checking airline flight times.....
ReplyDeleteI hope to see this in person some day. Looks stunning.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful photo. Thank you for sharing it with us! It's awesome that you visited Cambodia, Ankor Wat, must've been an experience of a lifetime. And, I imagine, it adds/will add a whole different dimension to books you read set in Cambodi and specifically Ankor Wat.
