I guess this is the first time I'm coming across someone who was going to India expecting riches, usually it's the opposite I see - people terrified of the poverty they will encounter. I'm glad the author learned a lot from her experience in India.Athirahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03366654538383603004noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3206029274559460902.post-82366318376069030732013-12-06T16:13:08.842-08:002013-12-06T16:13:08.842-08:00Wow the author seems to Really not like India; tha...Wow the author seems to Really not like India; that's a different kind of travel writing eh? But then it seems more memoir. It's too bad she could latch on to something there. cheers. http://www.thecuecard.com/thecuecardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08870323589682197091noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3206029274559460902.post-30461328838137203212013-12-05T19:23:07.403-08:002013-12-05T19:23:07.403-08:00My cousin and his family have been living in Banga...My cousin and his family have been living in Bangalore, India for the past 2 years and this memoir sounds so much like their "daily life anecdotes" - can't wait to read it! A great autobiographical novel about life in India is Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts (see my review: http://www.sarahsbookshelves.com/genres/fiction/book-review-shantaram/).Sarah (Sarah's Book Shelves)https://www.blogger.com/profile/04114051128835057362noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3206029274559460902.post-58447584753068567642013-12-05T19:19:50.991-08:002013-12-05T19:19:50.991-08:00This comment has been removed by the author.Sarah (Sarah's Book Shelves)https://www.blogger.com/profile/04114051128835057362noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3206029274559460902.post-78666446558305099482013-12-04T09:57:35.922-08:002013-12-04T09:57:35.922-08:00Excellent review! I think I'd have similar frustrations with the author, although I would relate to the challenges of expat life, having done it 3 times with my husband. It does take more effort than a vacation.
